Dr. Havighorst is a Chicagoland native who received both her B.S. in Animal Sciences and her DVM from the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. Amongst the cornfields, she was an active volunteer and student leader in the Wildlife Medical Clinic, treating a variety of Illinois wildlife species.
Following graduation from veterinary school, she spent a year as a rotating doctor at a specialty hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. She spent the past year completing a Specialty Internship in Avian and Exotic Medicine in Red Bank, New Jersey. There, she honed her skills treating exotic pets on a wellness and emergency basis; and developed a soft spot for guinea pigs and cockatoos.
Dr. Havighorst has completed externships at Brookfield and Nashville Zoos, and is working towards a residency in Zoologic Medicine. That journey has brought her from the Midwest to the East and now West Coasts, and she is eager to explore all that California has to offer!
