Dr. Alexis Zieve

Veterinarian

Dr. Alexis Zieve is passionate about exotic animal care. She earned her veterinary degree from Ross University in 2023 and completed her clinical year at LSU-VTH, where she gained hands-on experience with diverse exotic species. She also pursued multiple externships at exotic animal clinics, further deepening her expertise.

Her love for exotic animals began in childhood through a summer camp and later a school focused on wildlife rescue, where she learned to care for sick and injured animals. She also enjoyed educating children about these creatures and fostering a love for wildlife.

After graduation, Dr. Zieve interned at the Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital in Louisiana, where she worked with a diverse range of feathered, furred, and scaled patients. She stayed on as an associate to refine her medical and surgical skills before returning home to California.

Client education is central to her approach, and she is committed to ensuring owners have the resources they need to provide excellent care for their pets. She loves working with all exotic species but has a soft spot for mammals and small birds. She also has an interest in combining integrative medicine with standard medicine to achieve the best outcomes for her patients and hopes to become acupuncture-certified in the next few years.

Outside of work, Dr. Zieve loves exploring new places and discovering unique tea shops. She enjoys hiking, martial arts, and creative pursuits like pottery, making things, and photography. She also loves reading, baking, learning new languages, and spending time with family.
